It was an incredible honor to guide my community through a yoga summer solstice celebration! This yearly event honors the day we have the most sunlight in the sky, presenting us with ample opportunities for fun and fellowship. We practice 108 sun salutations to stretch ourselves not only physically, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It's a time that signifies change, transition, and growth.
In our practice we broke our 108 sun salutes into 9 sets of 12. In between each set we would take a resting pose and contemplate a different theme. Some of the questions we asked were:
I am especially grateful for everyone who came out and showed support. It began to pour down rain right before we started, but luckily cleared out in time. This was a challenging practice but everyone rocked it! It was hot & humid but these shining souls carried on and finished their practice with strength and grace. We were able to give away some awesome prizes thanks to special donations! Together we raised $81 to donate to Davidson County Family Services. I look forward to hosting more events like this in the future and continuing to watch this community grow.
Yoga means to bring together, to join, to unite. I've said it a few times already, but I'm so grateful for each shining soul who came out and joined us in our summer solstice celebration!
With a newfound passion for life and a deep interest in the connection between science and art, this is where ideas develop and blossom and are shared with you, my friends. Thanks for stopping by and joining me on this journey.
